THORNLEY, a chapelry in Wolsingham parish, Durham; 1½ mile S of Towlaw r. station. Post town, Towlaw, under Darlington. Real property, £2,477; of which £1,000 are in mines. Pop., 3,264. The living is a p. curacy in the diocese of Durham. Value, £400.* Patron, the Rector of Wolsingham. See Towlaw.
