In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described How Hall like this:
HOW-HALL, a seat on Ennerdale water, in Cumberland; 6½ miles NE of Egremont. It belonged to the Patricksons, and passed to the Senhouses; and it commands a full view of nearly all the lake.
How Hall is now part of CUMBERLAND Unitary Authority. Click here for graphs and data of how CUMBERLAND has changed over two centuries. For statistics about How Hall itself, go to Statistics.
