In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Woodborough like this:
WOODBOROUGH, a hamlet in Winscombe parish, Somerset; 2 miles NW of Axbridge. It has a post-office under Weston-super-Mare, and a small church of 1 863. Real property, with Sidcott, £2,664. Pop., 275.
