In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Oldfield Road like this:
OLDFIELD ROAD, a railway station with telegraphin Lancashire; on the Manchester and Bolton railway, within Salford borough, midway between the Manchester Victoria station and the Pendleton station.
