In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Beaumanor like this:
BEAUMANOR, a liberty in the parish of Barrow-upon-Soar, Leicester; 3 miles W of Mount-Sorrel. Acres, 1,210. Real property, £2,161. Pop., 137. Houses, 19. Beanmanor Park is the seat of W P. Herrick, Esq.; and the mansion is a splendid recent edifice, in the Tudor style, after a design by Railton.
