In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Brock like this:

BROCK, a station on the Lancaster and Preston railway, 2 miles S by E of Garstang, in Lancashire. Claughton Hall, a mansion of the time of Charles I., now a farmhouse, and stone quarries are in the neighbourhood.
