In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Crockernwell like this:
CROCKERNWELL, a village in Cheriton-Bishop and Drewsteignton parishes, Devon; on the river Teign, amid fine rock scenery, 11 miles W of Exeter. It has a post office under Exeter; and it had formerly a chapel, which was converted into a malt-house.
Crockernwell is now part of WEST DEVON District. Click here for graphs and data of how WEST DEVON has changed over two centuries. For statistics about Crockernwell itself, go to Statistics.
