In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Williamscot like this:
WILLIAMSCOTE, or Wilscott, a hamlet in Cropredy parish, Oxford; 3¼ miles N NE of Banbury. Real property, £2,621. Remains exist of an old seat in which Charles I. spent a night of 1644.
