In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Pantyffynnon like this:
PANTYFFYNNON, a railway-station with telegraphon the E border of Carmarthenshire; on the Llanelly and Vale of Towy railway, at the junction of the branch east-ward to Brynamman, 12½ miles N N E of Llanelly.
