In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Riddlesden like this:
Riddlesden, eccl. dist. and vil., Bingley par., West-Riding Yorkshire, 1½ mile N. of Keighley, pop. 767; Riddlesden Hall, an old house of the 16th century, was formerly the seat of the Paslews.
