In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Chapel Plaster like this:
CHAPEL-PLASTER, a place 3 miles SW of Corsham, in Wilts. It was, in the Romish times, a resting place of pilgrims on the way to Glastonbury Abbey; and, in last century, the retreat of the notorious highwayman, John Baxter.
Chapel Plaster is now part of WILTSHIRE Unitary Authority. Click here for graphs and data of how WILTSHIRE has changed over two centuries. For statistics about Chapel Plaster itself, go to Statistics.
