In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Portobello like this:
PORTOBELLO, a village in Willenhall township, Wolverhampton parish, Stafford; on the Birmingham, Walsall, and Wolverhampton railway, 2 miles E of Wolverhampton. It has a station on the railway, and a post-office under Wolverhampton.
Portobello is now part of WALSALL District. Click here for graphs and data of how WALSALL has changed over two centuries. For statistics about Portobello itself, go to Statistics.
