In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Calcot like this:
CALCOTT-PARK, a seat in Berks; on Holybrook, 3 miles WSW of Reading. It belonged to John Kendrick, who bequeathed £7,500 to build the Oracle at Reading; was the scene of the romantic marriage of his descendant, "the Berkshire lady," to Benjamin-Child; and belongs now to Colonel Blagrave.
Calcot is now part of WEST BERKSHIRE Unitary Authority. Click here for graphs and data of how WEST BERKSHIRE has changed over two centuries. For statistics about Calcot itself, go to Statistics.
