In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Llanulid like this:
LLANULID, a chapelry in Devynock parish, Brecon; on the rivulet Cray, 3 miles ESE of Trecastle, and 7½ W of Brecon r. station. It is conterminate with Cray hamlet; and its Post town is Trecastle, under Brecon. Real property, £2,369. Pop., 545. Houses, 105. The living is a p. curacy in the diocese of St. David's. Value, £120. Patron, the Vicar of Devynock.
