In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Over like this:
OVER, a tything in Almondsbury parish, Gloucester; 6½ miles N by W of Bristol. Real property, £1, 837. Pop., 74. Houses, 16. Over Court is the seat of R.Lippencott, Esq.; and a barrow is near it.
