In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Kershope Foot like this:
KERSHOPE-FOOT, a railway station adjacent to the boundary between Cumberland and Scotland; on the North British railway, at the confluence of the Kershope and the Liddel, 11½ miles NE by N of Longtown.
