In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Riddings like this:
RIDDINGS JUNCTION, a railway station on the N border of Cumberland; on the North British railway, at the junction of the branch to Langholm, adjacent to the river Liddell, at the boundary with Scotland, 14½ miles N by E of Carlisle.
Riddings is now part of CUMBERLAND Unitary Authority. Click here for graphs and data of how CUMBERLAND has changed over two centuries. For statistics about Riddings itself, go to Statistics.
