In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Offlow like this:
OFFLOW (North and South), two hundreds in Staffordshire; bounded, on the N, by Derbyshire, on the E and the S E, by Derbyshire and Warwickshire, on the S W and the W, by the hundreds of Seisdon, Cuttlestone, and Pirehill. North O. contains Alrewas parish, fourteen other parishes, and parts of six other parishes. Acres, 72, 673. Pop. in 1851, 24, 918. Houses, 5, 207. South O. contains Aldridge parish, twenty other parishes, and parts of four others. Acres, 90, 660. Pop.in 1851, 136, 853. Houses, 26, 177. Pop. of both in 1861, 214, 246. Houses, 41, 875.
