In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Porthdinlleyn like this:
PORTHDYNLLAEN, or Porthdinlleyn, a villagein the S W of Carnarvon; on a small sheltered bay of itsown name, on the W side of the Lleyn peninsnla, 2 miles W of Nevin. See Nevin.
