In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Mount Tabor like this:
MOUNT TABOR, a village in Ovenden township, Halifax parish, W. R. Yorkshire; 4 miles N W of Halifax. It has a post-office under Halifax, a brewery, and a Wesleyan chapel.
