In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Tavernspite like this:
TAVERNSPITE, a village in the SE of Pembroke; 7½ miles WNW of Langharne. It has a post-office under Narberth, and fairs on 20 July and 5 Sept.
