In 1882-4, Frances Groome's Ordnance Gazetteer of Scotland described Thrumster like this:
Thrumster House, a mansion in Wick parish, Caithness, 4¼ miles SSW of the town. Its owner, Mrs Bentley-Innes (suc. 1854), holds 7400 acres in the shire, valued at £1932 per annum.Ord. Sur., sh. 110, 1877.
