In 1837, Samuel Lewis's Topographical Dictionary of Ireland described Killeenoghty like this:
KILLENORTY, or KILLENOUGHT, a parish, in the barony of PUBBLEBRIEN, county of LIMERICK, and province of MUNSTER, 2 ½ miles (S. W.) from Patrickswell, on the road from Croom to Limerick; containing 390 inhabitants. The land is generally good, and is based on limestone. It is a rectory, in the diocese of Limerick, forming part of the bishop's mensal. In the R. C. divisions it is part of the union or district of Loughmore.
