In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Brinton like this:
BRINTON, a parish in Erpingham district, Norfolk; 3½ miles SW by W of Holt, and 5½ E by S of Walsingham r. station. It has a post office under Thetford. Acres, 625. Real property, £1,315. Pop., 177. Houses, 37. The property is divided among a few. The living is a rectory, annexed to the rectory of Thornage, in the diocese of Norwich. The church is good.
