In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Blasquet Islands like this:

Blasket, Blasquet, or Ferriter Islands, a cluster of rocky islets, W. co. Kerry, 12 miles W. of Dingle; they abound with sea-fowl. Blasket, Great, the largest, has an area of 1020 ac., pop. 136.
