In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Tramore like this:

Tramore, market town and watering-place with ry. sta., Drumcannon par., in co. and 7 miles S. of Waterford, on Tramore Bay, pop. 2036; P.O., T.O. Market-day, Saturday. Tramore Bay measures 4 miles by 3 miles, and is very safe for shipping.
