In 1837, Samuel Lewis's Topographical Dictionary of Ireland described Ballyrobert like this:

BALLYROBERT, a grange, in the parish of TEMPLEPATRICK, barony of LOWER BELFAST, county of ANTRIM, and province of ULSTER, 2 miles (S.) from Ballyclare: the population is returned with the parish. It is situated on the roads from Carrickfergus to Bally-water and Doagh, and comprises, according to the Ordnance survey, 883 ½ statute acres.
