In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Croaghpatrick like this:

Croaghpatrick, mountain, 8. co. Mayo, 4 mites SW. of Westport, alt. 2510 ft. Tradition says St Patrick began his missionary work in Ireland here.
