In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Tuskar Rock like this:

Tuskar Rock Lighthouse, off the SE. coast of co. Wexford, 7 miles NE. of Carnsore Point; is 110 ft. high, and has revolving light (Tuskar) 101 ft. above high water and seen 15 miles.
