In 1887, John Bartholomew's Gazetteer of the British Isles described Comeragh Mountains like this:

Comeragh, mountain range, N. co. Waterford, 12 miles long; highest summit, Knockanaffrin, 2478 ft.; 4 miles W. of Kilmacthomas is Comeragh House.
