In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Tickford like this:
TICKFORD-ABBEY, a seat in Newport-Pagnell parish, Bucks; 1 mile SE of Newport-Pagnell. A Cluniac monastery, a cell to a French abbey, was founded here in the time of W. Rufus, by Fulk Paganell; and was given, by Henry VIII., to Cardinal Wolsey.
Tickford is now part of MILTON KEYNES Unitary Authority. Click here for graphs and data of how MILTON KEYNES has changed over two centuries. For statistics about Tickford itself, go to Statistics.
