BECKERMET-ST. BRIDGET, a parish in Whitehaven district, Cumberland; on the coast and on the Whitehaven and Furness railway, from Beckermet township south-eastward to the vicinity of Calder-bridge. Post Town, Beckermet, under Whitehaven. Acres, 5,025; of which 377 are water. Rated property, £3,909. ...
Pop., 657. Houses, 126. The property is much subdivided. Freestone is quarried. The living is a vicarage, united to the p. curacy of Calder-Bridge, in the diocese of Carlisle. Value, £127. Patron, Captain Irwin. The church is old and lonely, and now used merely. for marriages and burials; and a new church at Calder-Bridge is attended by the inhabitants.
