In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Cascob like this:
CASCOB, a township and a parish in Presteigne district, Radnor. The township lies in Radnor forest, near the river Lug, partly within the borough boundaries of New Radnor, 5½ miles W by N of Presteigne, and 5¾ SW by S of Knighton r. station. Pop., 117. Houses, 22. The parish includes also part of the township of Litton and Cascob; and its Post Town is Presteigne, Radnorshire. ...
Acres, 2,548. Real property, with the rest of Litton and Cascob, £1,941. Pop., 153. Houses, 28. The property is subdivided. The living is a rectory in the diocese of St. David's. Value, £190.* Patron, the Bishop of St. David's. The church is not good.
