In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Doethie like this:
DOTHIE-CAMDDWR and DOTHIE-PISCOTTWR, two townships in Llanddewi-brefi parish, Cardigan; on the river Dothie or Trothie, 4 miles SW of Tregaron. Acres, 7, 467 and 7, 769. Pop., 136 and 121. Houses 23 and 21.
