In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Braiseworth like this:
BRAISEWORTH, or Breisworth, a parish in Hartismere district, Suffolk; 2 miles SSW of Eye r. station, and 3½ SE of Mellis. Post Town, Eye. Acres, 720. Real property, £1, 317. Pop., 164. Houses, 30. Braiseworth H all is a chief residence. The living is a rectory in the diocese of Norwich. Value, £149. Patron, Sir E. Kerrison, Bart. The church was built in 1857.
