In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Roxby like this:
ROXBY, a parish, with a village and two hamlets, in Glanford-Brigg district, Lincoln; 1 mile S by W of Winterton, and 4 N N E of Frodingham r. station. Post-town, Winterton, under Brigg. Acres, 4, 784. Real property, £5, 970. Pop., 348. Houses, 73. The property is divided among three. About 3,000 acres are rabbit-warrens. Roman coins and a tesselated pavementwere found in 1709. The living is a double vicarage Roxby-with-Risbyin the diocese of Lincoln. Value, £389.* Patron,C. Elwes, Esq. The church is good.
