In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Trefeurig like this:
TREFEIRIG, a township, with three villages, in Llanbadarn-fawr parish, Cardigan; near Aberystwith. Acres, 9,150. Real property, £2,725; of which £748 are in mines. Pop. in 1851, 887; in 1861, 1,095. Houses, 203.
