In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Longridge like this:
LONGRIDGE, a township in Norham parish, Northumberland; 3½ miles SW of Berwick-on-Tweed. Acres, 558. Pop., 57. Houses, 16. Longridge House is a chief residence.
