NEWMINSTER ABBEY, a township in Morpeth parish, Northumberland; on the river Wansbeck, ½ a mile W of Morpeth. Acres, 717. Pop., 140. Houses, 26. A splendid Cistertian monastery stood here. See Morpeth.
