In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Hill like this:
HILL, a township in Halesowen parish, Worcester; near the river Stour, the Netherton canal, and the boundary with Salop, in the vicinity of Halesowen. Pop. in 1851, 1, 122; in 1861, 1, 328. Houses, 256. The increase of pop. arose from the extension of the iron manufacture.
Hill is now part of DUDLEY District. Click here for graphs and data of how DUDLEY has changed over two centuries. For statistics about Hill itself, go to Statistics.
