Ambleside, township with ry. sta., near head of Lake Windermere, Westmorland, 4½ miles from Windermere sta. and 12 m. NW. of Kendal, 4371 ac., pop. 1989; P.O., T.O., 1 Bank, 2 newspapers. Mkt.-days, Wed. and Sat.
