Notes

The Poor Law pauper returns from 1911 onward indicate that Chorlton Union changed it's name to South Manchester. The History of the Workhouse website identifies the change occurring in 1910. As the exact date and Act implementing the change are not currently identified and this affects a unit preferred name, South Manchester has been entered as a alternate name until such time as more details emerge.
