From 1894 onwards the Ordnance Survey identified an area of 94 acres within Ruthin parish but outside the borough as 'Ruthin Rural'. It never contained any population and was merged into Llanynys Rural CP in 1921. The only census to provide separate statistics for it, and to call the main parish 'Ruthin Urban', was 1921.
