Notes

Canmore gives the grid reference NO 35 36 for this burgh, which places it north of Templeton. However, the archaelogical notes in Canmore describe the burgh as "unlocated", so it seems reasonable to identify "Auchry" with "Auchray": "North Auchray" and "South Auchray" appear on OS maps, including the New Popular sheet, a kilometre or so to the east and to the south of the rough location given by Canmore. Is it possible that Canmore transposes eastings and northings?
