The ancient Township of Beamsley was partly in Addingham AP and partly in Skipton AP. Youngs' states that in 1866 these two parts became separate civil parishes, although the Census for 1871 records them as parts of the Township still. By 1881 they are recorded separately and an 1891 footnote about administrative changes describes them as civil parishes. The 1866-1886 CP units have therefore been made parts of ancient parishes pre 1866 and a separate township unit created.
