Youngs' entry for the parish of Conisbrough lists it as being part of the wapentake of Staincliffe and Ewcross, but this was otherwise in the north-west corner of the West Riding. Youngs' separate listing wapentakes with their component parishes places Conisbrough in Strafforth and Tickhill, and this is confirmed by the parish listings in the 1831 census report.
