The divisions of the moorland in the Aysgarth area were clearly poorly defined, and the census reports often list units for which they do not provide separate statistics. However, while Youngs and the 1891 census clearly list Mossdale Moor and Wether Fell as two separate units, the 1911, 1921 and 1931 censuses list them as a single row. In 1901, the name 'Mossdale Moor' is not used, but there is a clearly equivalent unit, so the merger happened between 1901 and 1911.
