Notes

In 1871, and earlier, the census described the whole of the Scilly Islands as in St. Mary's Parish, but then listed data for the individual islands. From 1891 onwards, the islands were listed as separate civil parishes. However, in 1881 there is just a single entry for the islands as a whole, with a footnote listing the islands.
