Notes

Brasted is in Hasted's list of areas which were separate jurisdictions from all hundreds (Hasted, E., 'General history: Divisions of the county', The History and Topographical Survey of the County of Kent: Volume 1 (1797), pp. 250-260; http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=53770, accessed 18th March 2013). Hasted later says "Within [the parish of Brasted] is a district, called the Ville of Brasted, which is a jurisdiction separate from any hundred, having a constable of its own, the remaining part of the parish being the most northern part of it, called Brasted Upland, is in the hundred of Westerham and Eatonbridge. The church stands within the ville." (Idem., Volume 3, pp. 146-57; http://www.british-history.ac.uk/report.aspx?compid=62848, accessed 13th July 2013.)
