In certain years, the Agricultural Census divided the acreage of Permanent Pasture by usage. In 1871, 1891-1901 and 1921-31 it was divided into 'for hay' and 'not for hay'. In 1940-41 it was divided into 'for hay' and 'for grazing'. In 1950-70 it was divided into 'for mowing' and 'for grazing'.
